Graphic Cards nVidia Driver issues

After reports of huge performance gains, I finally decided to install 91.28_forceware_winxp2k_english. Initially, i was impressed with the all new cpanel but the woes started to unleash once i loaded my first game - Brian Lara International Cricket 2005. The game was horribly slow and the game menu system messed up. Next, I tried Top Spin and found the exact same prob there. The keyboard was less responsive and in some cases, completely failing to respond. I have tried other games such as NFS:MW and MotoGP 3. Needless to say, I was unable to drive the cars and bikes.

I decided to unistall and reinstall my old drivers. Followed the procedure, cleaned up the system with Driver Cleaner Pro and installed 84.21 Forceware Win XP 2k WHQL but the problem remains. What to do now? Plz help!

Reinstall the 84.21 again by going into safe mode - uninstall followed by a install & this time don't clean with cleaner pro.

If you have overclocked your card then bring it to stock or try even underclocking it.

Also try to reload the nvidia cp/desktop management/default profile, save, reboot.

Was looking at some forums but no concrete answers as of now, would update if i find any info.

Well, what more can u xpect from a beta?
anyways, i found a few other guys also complaining abt drop in 3d mark scores after they put on the new drivers--check this at guru3d
I am sticking to 84.21 for now...moreover there are no changes affecting my card (FX 5500):bleh:

k..thanx guys

i'll try reinstalling the drivers.

EDIT: The prob remains... :(

tried nVidia Forceware 81.98 XP WHQL as well. same problem.

I just posted this a minute ago, posting same thing here.

Too many people underestimate the power of system restore :)

Just give it a shot yaar, go back 2 days and see wat happens.

ah..well but unfortunately, i've turned off system restore

someone made me belive that it makes the computer run slower :(

Hey, it looks like there's some permanent change made to settings...try RivaTuner and see if all the setting r correct when u have the older driver version(like AA and all).

Did u make any adjustments in the gfx card or GPU settings with 91.28 driver? Or did u try to add coolbits to 91,28?

If nothing works (and u feel like bashing ur card), try flashing the BIOS of the card ::This is risky stuff, but may help ::

QF, uninstall and reinstall Dx using a utility call direct x cleaner or something.

Also use a third party driver cleaner, not too sure of Nv drivers, but search on net there may quite a few, will remove the registry entries too.

Do a clean install of the drivers, do you get similar issues in OpenGl games too ?

Edit Dxbuster

DirectX Buster

Driver cleaner :

Driver Cleaner Professional

It does make the system slower in the sense that over time it can use up a lot of hard disk space. But I've setup the max to 3 gb. And If u use Disk Cleanup, it does give you the option to remove all but the last system checkpoint. And 1 checkpoint is approx. 500megs in size. That wont make ur compy slow :hap5:

Now coming back to ur prob.

1. Try a clean boot (start -> run -> msconfig -> Uncheck Load startup items, restart.

If that doesnt work try the next step.

I hope ur mobo has onboard.
Run Driver cleaner pro again.
Shut down
Remove ur gfx card.
Turn ur compy on.
Goto Safe mode (this wont install onboard gfx drivers)
Shut down
Install gfx card
Reboot, reinstall drivers, reboot.
What happens now ?

thanx again..

@\/endett/\:

no i don rmmbr making any changes.

i'll try rivatuner.

@Aces170:

the directX buster page says

DirectX Buster is a DirectX uninstaller for Windows 9X, ME and W2K. It uninstalls DirectX from version 5 up to version 8.1 without any problems. This tool may also work properly on later DirectX versions (e.g. DirectX 9).

I'm using XP SP2 (DX9c). Is it worth the risk?

I've already used Driver Cleaner Professional as mentioned in my first post.

I don have any opengl games installed on my system currently. So wasn't able to chk that.

@wolfff:

its just the games that are not working as b4..apart frm that my system is perfectly okay or so it seems.

using onboard gfx wont prove anything coz then i wont be able to play those games :P

i have tried uninstalling-renstalling in safe mode but the prob exists...

i'll try out ur suggestion smtime later.

I recommended running onboard gfx, because once you boot the system without the gfx card, and then boot it back up with it, any changes that may have been made by the beta drivers, will be reset to default :)

^^lol..read my sig..

anyways, problem solved..:stup1:

i forgot that i installed Top Desk couple of days ago and that was creating all problems..disabled that and now all games working just fine.

Great, thanks for updating us - next time we must ask more details on changes made before going nvidia bashing ;)

So have you installed 91.28 back ?

nope i'm on 84.21 now

actually in anger, i deleted those beta drivers frm my hdd yesterday

and i don wanna dload them again :P
