At the Game Developers' Conference, Nvidia took the opportunity to announce two new 7-series GPUs at the entry level, or what it's calling the "mainstream" tier, including one which enables lower-cost SLI.
TheGeForce 7300 LE and 7600 GS are based on 90 nanometer technology and feature all the benefits of the GeForce 7 family including:
NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GS :
With a suggested retail price of $129 - $149 the NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GS is going to be one of the most sold video cards that NVIDIA offers due to the price point alone. NVIDIA has moved what was previously high end features down the price chart for the GeForce 7600 GS too. With an over the top SLI connector every single 7600 GS will support SLI technology.
The NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GS is a single slot card that features a 400MHz core clock speed with a GDDR2 memory clock speed of 400MHz (800MHz double data rate). The 7600 GS features 5 Vertex shading units with a total of 12 pixel shader pipelines. This is the same number of shading units and pipelines found on the GeForce 7600 GT, so the only difference on the card is the clock speeds and the memory type used.
Thanks to the lower clock speeds NVIDIA has been able to get the peak power consumption down to 32 Watts from the 67 Watts found on the 7600 GT. This is big news for those wanting a silent cooling solution and for those in the HTPC market.

What does your top-to-bottom GeForce 7 Series product line-up look like now?
The company boasts of 256 Mb GDDR2 memory with 128-bit bandwidth and 12 pixel pipelines, in a package whose "silent-pipe heatsink" makes it look more like an oversized MasterLock than a graphics card.

Legit Video Card Reviews
"In closing we now have the GeForce 7600 positioned at the lower end of the mid-range market and cards are available today from the major online retailers. From what we have seen on paper the GeForce 7600 GS is an excellent choice for those looking at getting into mainstream gaming at extremely affordable price-points. With the MSRP being $129-$149 we should see these cards dipping below $100 in future months and that is when they will sell like hot cakes.
In addition to the price point, users will find the GeForce 7600 GS to be an excellent match for Windows Media Center Edition system configurations with its passive cooling, and PureVideo MPEG-2 HD/SD and H.264 decode acceleration. We heard NVIDIA say that this was "The Ultimate Multimedia Solution" so many times we are still having dreams about it, but it might just be true. Using an HDCP-ready 7600 Series graphics card, users can playback HDCP-protected content to HDCP-capable monitors. HDCP versions of GeForce 7600 GS and 7600 GT graphics boards should be available from various board vendors in the near future."

Nvidia buys Hybrid Graphics
As the demand for 3D graphics development tools for the burgeoning handset market has exploded, especially in Asia and Europe, Nvidia announced it's extending its reach to that market with the acquisition of Finland-based producer Hybrid Graphics.
Although Hybrid is technically a software producer, its products emerge in the form of firmware embedded in small systems. This firmware enables the production of OpenGL-compliant graphics, so that game developers and others can develop products for PCs, consoles, and handsets simultaneously, scaling their graphics assets up or down to suit their target platforms.
The company will continue to do business under the name Hybrid, as a subsidiary of Nvidia. Hybrid customers include Symbian, Samsung, Philips, Samsung, Nokia and Ericsson.
TheGeForce 7300 LE and 7600 GS are based on 90 nanometer technology and feature all the benefits of the GeForce 7 family including:
- Full support for Microsoft's (delayed again) Windows Vista operating system
- H.264 hardware accelerated support through NVIDIA PureVideo technology
- Full support for Microsoft DirectX 9.0 Shader Model 3.0
- Extensible with TurboCache technology.
- Vertex Texture Fetch (VTF) for improved shading.
- 7600 GS support's SLI, which could make the GS one of the least expensive complementable processors available.
