Nvidia decided to mark this summer with its NB8E chip, a re-spin of the original G80 that will address the enthusiast notebook segment.

In order to fit the power envelope, lots of changes have been made, from the way the chip is manufactured to the functional units themselves. Even though these cuts will decrease 3D performance when compared to the desktop, this will be a most powerful chip for notebook market. Currently in roadmaps we have seen somewhere between Croatia and Taiwan, NB8E should come to market as NB8E-GTX, NB8E-GT and NB8E-SE. These codenames will probably end as GeForce 8800M GTX, 8800M GT and 8800M GS.

For the end, here's a teaser. For dual-PCB 7950GX2, Nvidia used G71M, mobile version of its ultra-successful G71 (7900) chip. Guess what becomes a possibility if the G80 is packed in 22W+

8850GX2 would be nice :P

Nvidia just released a new Geforce 8M series for mobile computers. There is a bunch of new chips and the fastest DirectX 10 that supports HD video is Geforce 8700M GT and this one is available at TOSHIBA SATELLITE x205. This is supposed to be the fastest mobile DirectX 10 hardware around. This is an enthusiast product.

Official news on the new M1720

Hey folks,

I just got of the phone earlier with Dell because the replacement motherboard they sent me had soda on it . Not to mention the chips near the headphone jacks were all corroded and stuff...

Well in my mission on getting a replacement, I found out the guy (Dellguy1) I was talking to used to work for the same company as I did. Well I asked him a few questions and here is what I got out of him:

1. He finished the "new generation" training last Friday.

2. The new flagship will be called the XPS 1720. Not sure if they are using the "M"...

3. It is Santa Rosa based. Duhhh...

4. THEY HAVE THE GO 8800GTX IN HOUSE AND READY. THIS IS CONFIRMED.

5. He did not give me clocks or memory size. He couldn't cause "big brother " may be listening.. lmao!!!

6. Oh did I mention they HAVE the 8800GTX....

7. 8800GTX...

8. It is due to release in July

9. It is BIGGER than the m1710 and looks different..

10. Dell would not let anyone crack the case so no word on Vcard compatability with the M1710. But my guess would be if you swap heatsinks, you may be game..... He said the back video ports are set up the same...

11. It will support 4GB ram

12. He physically touched the unit (good news!!!)

13. He was wondering what has stopped Dell, but they are overdue to announce it.... by a week or 2 now. In fact his manager was searching for a copy of the advertisement....

14. Oh did I say advertisement...

Anyway, you can all take a cold shower now and start selling off your kids for this beast...

-Abadee, your new best friend...
