I am in a situation where I need to get the ram oc to 3600mhz or more for my ryzen 3900x.

I was on 16gb rank 2 ram before and today I got my other pair which is 16gb rank 1 ram.

tried to boot and there was error on boot as the ram rank 2 was on 3400mhz.

Ram is Corsair Vengeance LPX - CMK16GX4M1E3200C16 ( both )

Mobo is MSI Tomahawk Max b450.

is there a difference when it comes to overclocking the ram with rank 1 and rank 2 ?

screen shorts below:

Ram 2 in 4th slot:

There are some strict compatibility issues with ryzen so you should had got both ram identical.
There are so much differences between the two sticks... wonder what made you think they can overclock as a pair..

Only if its was a single dimm things would have been pretty straight forward

Yes I know that normally bundle is what I should have went for but then again budget was an issue

Also do you think it can be the voltage issue ?

below is my current configuration in bios

Auto-Voltage settings seems fine. Are you trying to OC it with XMP or with 'Memory Try it !' ?

I have used 'Memory Try it !' to push mine to 3600 CL 16.

Auto Xmp is what I am doing as I have never done the Memory Try it !

with auto xmp it’s working on 3400mhz

3733mhz is hard or I am doing something wrong. Not pushing voltage as I am on stock cpu cooler.

below is what I was taking about for dram voltage.

for 1.400V it shows 1.432V
