Octroi in Mumbai ???

I am a frequent online buyer, since i stay in THANE which was Octroi zone, guess its abolished & LBT has been introduced ????

My Office is in MUMBAI which is an Octroi free zone, hence i used to get all my goods to my office since quite some years & never had to pay Octroi.

10 days back I made a purchase from eBay worth 1299/- for which I had to pay an Octroi of Rs.42/-, since it was little amount, I gave it.

Today I refused a parcel for which I was asked to pay an hefty amount as an Octroi & requested a refund.

Anyone else who paid ????

Regular payer here. We pay octroi on almost everything.

Mumbai has Octroi !
new bombay was no octroi area, thane had Octroi. Now both have LBT.

I do have a similar query as stated by OP..If i have purchased some items from lamington road(its going to be my new PC) or some consumer durable,then will i have to pay octroi??Since i am going to shift to thane shortly..

So i wont be charged anything except for some small bribe,say i have bought 40" LED from grey market,i wouldnt be asked to furnish the purchase details??

The reason am asking is because recently i went on for looking for beds in godrej interio store,i was being told 5% octroi would be charged..

Nothing on the led off you buy it from a dealer outside Mumbai.
Godrej interior ships from vikhroli and they are applying Mumbai octroi on the product.

okay..thanks..Also i need not pay while shifting my old stuff to my new apartment except for some bribe if they stop??

Ideally they should not charge you in just movement of your apartment.

If you are leaving Mumbai and coming to Thane, no charge in any way. If reverse, then you can prove they are used goods and not bother.
