OpenOffice.org 2.0 has been released!!

Well try it. It is pretty neat, and has some good tools. The writer I prefer to word... it is easier to use somehow. Word starts grating on your nerves after some time due to all its little idiosyncrasies... weird autoformatting which does not show up properly...

i have been using open office for last 2 years. it is pretty usefull and not a single problem so far.

i have ditched the ms office suite for long you too can do so.

"Got a ton of stuff already in Microsoft formats? Don't sweat it.

While extremely fancy documents—think legal paperwork—may not make it over from Microsoft to OpenDocument in perfect shape, the vast majority of your papers and spreadsheets will translate perfectly from one to the other.

Let me put it this way: Over the last four months, I've flipped hundreds of documents and spreadsheets from Microsoft Office to OpenOffice.org and back again, and I haven't lost a font or a formula yet."

I use the older version of open office i think its below version 1 also. I faced a problem of fonts becoming bold irregularly when switching from msoffice to open office and back (when i was testing the two softwares simultaneously). is this problem there in the newer version? i havent downloaded the latest version to check it out. if someone has both programs can u pls check out and tell?

thanks in advance
