Whenever I log in to TE, I get the same page as a guest would. I have to refresh the page to actually login. The same applies to any link I visit on TE. Once I click and open it, Opera keeps loading the same page until I press refresh, when it updates it. Is this some issue with any setting related to cache or is it related to the browser? I browse TDF as well and I don't face any such problems. I can browse TE on Firefox without any problems.

I haven't changed any of my settings on my Opera, but don't face any of those issues you mentioned. I run the same version on W7 x86. You might want to reset your custom settings, else install fresh and try again.
 
Cookies enabled, settings are default mostly, except that all my browsing related cache/history is deleted upon closing Opera. Will try a reinstall and report.
 
I have set to clear history too after closing opera.
Never faced this problem on TE but with earlier versions had this problem on other forum sites.
 
Opera is weird for sure. I opened my Flickr page in 10.53 and I could not see the Preview and Post Comment buttons in it. I could see the same in Firefox and also Opera 10.60. Fastest browser it may be, but on more than one occasion it has messed up the rendering/functioning of websites for me. Somehow I have never faced any such issues with Firefox, which I left after years of usage as Opera is much sleeker.
