Storage Solutions optical drive problm!!

Guyz...one of my frnd recently bght an amd basd rig...problem is dat wenevr he inserts a cd or a dvd in his drive...it simply freezes!! initially it was only with DVDs but nw wid everythin..
His rig specs r:
AMD64 X2 3600+ (AM2)
Asus M2NPVM
Transcnd 512*2 DDRII 533
Seagate 160GB SATA
iball 400w smps
Lite-on 16x dvd writer.

also he has overclockd his rig by 5% using the AI overclockin.

Try it in safe mode. Uninstall the DVDROM from device manager and reboot and also try to reseat the IDE cable.
