Other OTG Flash Drive works with any smartphone?

I am using Huawei honor 6, never use OTG flash drive before, and would like to have a try, then I can transfer the media files to my smartphone whenever I like, but I am confused if all smartphone support OTG, including ,y honor 6?

Not every phone supports USB OTG but your Huawei Honor 6 supports it
 
Those phones which does not have OTG, is there any posssibility of having it in updates by the manufacturer/s ? Or is it possible to have it in any other way?
