i would like to know do different games behave differently to overclock because some games crash or freeze when using cpu,ram overclock..darksiders an example i experienced.

Almost all the games experience a moderate boost in the frames when the CPU/GPU is overclocked within the safe limits for a 24x7 usage. For instance, I run my CPU at 4 GHz and the GPU at 900 MHz core and 1050 MHz Memory at all times (YMMV) and by far I have experienced no crashes or freezes in any games that I have played till date. I sue my system only for gaming and thus I do not switch to lower clocks otherwise. Crashing, freezing, artifacts and other issues occur when you have set the clocks beyond the safe limits, when you don't have the latest drivers for the GPU, insufficient cooling resulting in overheating etc.

For gaming, the maximum performance increase is noticeable in GPU overclocking. However, if you are using a slow processor which might bottleneck the card, then overclocking the processor might improve gaming performance.

Also keep an eyes for these generalized signs of a bad overclock-
- CPU & RAM - Computer freezes or BSODs like- IRQ_LESS THAN ZERO/MEMORY MANAGEMENT/...etc.
- GPU Core/Shader - Computer freezes, Screen goes off (No Display), System restarts when running 3D Applications or Games.
- GPU Memory - Garbled display, Poor textures, Anomalies when running 3D Applications of Games.
