can i replace my ati chipset , dont know if that cud be done or cud i just overclock the thing, dammn man i wanna extract the maximum juice performancewise from my laptop please give any kinda advise for a performance boost , u r welcome guys as i am itching to experiment with laptop ocing :cool2:

hello there dudes we can convert this thread dedicated to laptop modding and upgrading comon guys i am waiting for ur replies SHOOOOT

In the BIOS see if u can find settings to increase the FSB.

Also check if there is Vcore + Vdimm setting for adjusting voltage.

But i dont advice you to overclock ur lappy as it will consume more power
and the battery will drain fast.

Also when you overclock heat is generated so you will have to take care of
temps also.

This is not the problem with desktop pc's there is a lot of air flow but in a
laptop the airflow is not as good as desktop.

Think before u start overclockin ur Lappy.

i wudnt recommend overclocking a laptop
it will get overheated and lose its battery life
And also ur warranty will be void.
even if u manage to overclock it a bit u wont gain too much peformance gain so better keep it as it is

I suggest you add another stick of 256MB RAM and you will definately see 15-20% performance increase.

As for overclocking laptops - Maybe the never Acer Ferraris (Based on the Turion chipset) may OC (Nikhil will know) otherwise not recommended at all. Reasons posted by Quad ^^

dudes okay i got it i cant overclock my northwood but is there any passsibility of changing the graphic card chipset or changing the proc as i have opened up my laptop the proc is just screwed and can be easily opened could i put in a hyperthreaded proc and also change my graphic chip also wanted to ask will a mobile p4 processor fit in or does it have a diffn pin structure than 478 pin which my lappy is currently having and if it can be done guide me as to the performance gain and the from where to by one , dudues looking for a quickie this time around

Ok... The Acer Ferrari cannot be oc'ed. Not the GPU, not the CPU, not the RAM, nothing.

The BIOS has no option for increasing the FSB and the Vcore and all that. Abt the GPU -- it is not possible to oc it using standard ATI dirvers. Will install Rivatuner and try later.....
