Overclocking Intel E5200

well, I have overclocked mine to 3.45ghz on stock HS, and stock voltage.....temps are around 38-39 idle and 55-56 at full load checked with RealTemp....

GigaByte G31 ES2L is a gud mobo with lot of OC'ing options but it won't go beyond the 3.4G barrier on stock cooler with E5200.

btw my new cooler is on the way home, let me see wat dat it can do to the E5200 with my new G Skill kits :)

You probably don't need aftermarket cooling till you start increasing voltage, It's always good to have it though.
@Jin
The mobo has nothing to do with it in this scenario.

I can easily run my E5200 on 3.33GHz with undervolts.. Max load temps of jst 52degress with the intel stock cooler..

@Vinay/OP
Here's mine @ 3.3core clock/1200FSB(note 1.088V at load :) ):-

Try geting more FSB out of it to reach the same clock speed.
Max i've done on stock voltage is 319(1276Mhz FSB) x11 Multi = , ratio 2.66 = 3500Mhz, OCCT Stable.

BTW, OCing more than this won't be of much benefit since you have an 8600GT, it'll get bogged down.
Good luck :)

Stock E5200 cooler, Tuniq TX2 thermal paste. Temps just touch over 50 on max/extended periods of load, similar temps to yours...

^ If you are Passing 1.568V to reach 4.5 Ghz , then can't really say you are lucky in the sense that you have an great chip :P

pumping voltage doesn't guarantee sureshot clocks ;)

Anyway, Its a 5200, cant expect these chips to be binned too well. I haven't seen many 5200 do such clocks on AIR at lesser vcore, have you ?

Now that's an awesome chip ;)

@ Siddhant .. with 667 Mhz ram your current OC is optimal .

PS : This is just a random screenie i pulled of XS :gap:
