I just thought that it deserved some more attention here.
I recently lost my 1.6TB buffered revtt account with+5 ratio and the reason they gave for banning me was that I had 200 posts in Tech-Enclave's giveaway thread. I tried explain my reason ... to bring improvement in the community by creating that thread and to stop ppl from trading. They agreed that my intentions were right and that they had searched the entire trade thread on Tech-Enclave to find only 3 posts from me and all the 3 posts were anti trading.

Then added "Being associated with Tech-Enclave, is enuff of a reason to ban you" and kicked me off IRC.

I had requested the tech-enclave staff to close the trade thread several times ... but they will never do that, as it gets the maximum amount of traffic to their forums .. and now, they are blacklisted in the p2p community.

"Being associated with Tech-Enclave, is enuff of a reason to ban you"
Thats what rnb, a senior staff member on revtt told me and U can quote me on that.

@Party Monger

What is racist about any of the comments? It maybe partial, but not racist.

Anyhow, RevTT can rally stick anything they want up their cracks for all I care, and so can TL. I am more than happy with IPT. :)

My RevTT account with +2 ratio also got disabled after giving free invite to TE member in Tech-Enclave's giveaway thread. It was like one year old account with good maintained ratio. RevTT mods used to search our P2P section for such trade / giveaway posts.

Does having same nicks is to be blamed or they have some IP sniffers... How do they know which users are also members here on TE...

Just for curiosity...

@^

Same nicks, improper or unedited ratio proofs, blatant advertising and carelessly handing out invites to cheaters and scammers and sometimes to people who do not use or maintain the account.

Some tracker mods troll many technology forums for such inviting and trader activity.

The P2P section and the trade section should be private. By private, I don't mean to show the word "private" in place of the last post column. Instead, the whole section shouldn't be displayed to them ( the guests ).

But still anyone can register on the forum and check that section right ?
Only if rules such as in market ones are applied this solution can become effective.

Yeah. But the newbies won't know that these sections exist at all unless the section tittles are displayed. :)

The P2P thread/forum should be anonymous. Posts should not be identifiable by their username. Only the mods should be able to see the username, not regular users. It should be as as though the posts have been made by anon.

But that has another side effect. Since the torrent websites (who have intention of banning) dont know who are the culprits (sorry for the word, but it from torrent website POV), they may go ahead and Ban the entire IP range / country etc like few have already done :(

Oh well, no idea then. Actually that might not help much since the email address of the recipient would still be visible. But then you can always use a different email address to register on the torrent site.

Anyways, Im not sure whats to be done. What exactly is the problem of the torrent sites if the users exchange invites?

Then how do you suggest we know who gets the invite and stuff?

Wouldnt the user post his email address to which he wants the invite to be sent? I dont see any reason to keep a track of who is getting/giving away how many invites though.

Thats the main thing we want to avoid. The mod of that tracker will just ban the email address of the account and ban the account too. So anonymity if not an option. Only option is make the thread private and keep the post count to a minimum of 100 to view that thread to even keep the darn newbies out

Can the invite be sent to email id a@b.com, but the registration itself be done using c@d.com? That way both users can avoid getting banned.

Err that is actually not possible in some trackers. They invite the ID and keep that in the database and the user needs to be registered with it.

Probably restrict entry to the p2p section / particular thread to only 100+ posts members. It is necessary to keep post count high as against time limit (15 days etc) as it will be difficult for anyone wanting to actually gain access to those sections spam in the entire forums.

On clue is that in IBF you have many sections like

MTNL Backdoor etc which you can access only after reaching certain post count or whatever. I with less than 100 posts am not able to access those sections there so myself does not know the criteria.
Its like do not reveal the criteria, just set it and unlock the feature (here accessing those sections) when user meets the criteria.
