Here's the final take on the card. VFM (Value For Money) is a very important consideration for a low end card. In terms of performance, we have already seen it is able to beat Nvidia Geforce 6600 in almost all benchmarks and that too with quite some margin. The Palit Radeon X1300 Pro 256 MB sells for a street price of around of Rs. 5650 with 3 years warranty. The cheapest Geforce 6600 is available for around Rs. 5400. It makes more sense to invest a few hundred more and opt for the X1300 Pro. The Palit Radeon X1300 Pro 256 MB is highly recommended in the sub-6k range of graphic cards. But if you have a couple of thousands extra, then the 6600GT is well worth the difference.

Thats strange cos from what i have heard, the 1300 is a crap card and is not capable of beating the 6600 Non GT,leave alone the GT....

exactly...... that is why I posted this here hoping that someone enlightens me.....

^^ actually the x1300pro beat the old 6600 quite easily except opengl tests. And thats what the tt guys have used in the review. The new 6600 with ddr2 ram beats the x1300 pro however its AWOL in the india atleast.

Not true... I have used two 1300's... they're decent.. played games like FEAR and DOOM 3 decently. Ofcourse you cannot play decently @ anything above 1024x768, but FEAR ran well on mid-high detail... AA and AF were off..
btw one of them was a PALIT card, the other an all in wonder

Well, I will clear the confusion.:)

The problem over here is not with the performance of graphic card or techtree's benchmark. It is the channel market, which imports the graphic card. I already had heated up debates with all the graphic card importers regarding this matter.

Now, here the joke .....i mean situation.

Every graphic card imported needs graphic card in a certain price range. For example, they will have 1 graphic card in 3-5k range, another 5-8k, 8k - 12k and so on. I will be using dummy names.

Now company "A" imports Geforce 6600 128 and sells for 5.5K. He also sells 6600 GT 128 for 8.5K. Now, if he decided to import 6600 256 MB DDR2, he will be sell for 7k-7.5k. (20$ diff, more % of sales and excise tax and small % increase in profits). Now, there is only 1-1.5K diff between 6600 256 mb and 6600gt 128 mb.
In case, you dont know, the numbers and the name of the card makes the card sell rather than thier performance. I have seen sales charts myself a couple of graphic card importers. If they introduce 6600 256 MB, it will hurt thier own sales of 6600 GT 128 mb cards. (256 sounds more attractive than 128)
Sometime, I see some discussion on TE wierd as in you all compare it to every card available in the world. Why dont you just check the indian market and compare it to the situation over here. No offensce intended, but thats the reality.

^^ I guess we live in India Chaos, and i am specifically talking about Indian Price conditions...
point taken..Still I found it to be a decent card.. and remember we're talking a low end vs a mid end...

to your credit we're talking a gen 3 card vs a gen 2 card.. so touche... and yeah its rarer here hence costlier... an X1600 maybe more VFM as far as I've seen
