Parent msi help

I'm trying to download and install a new norton internet security package, and my computer tells me it can't find parent msi. I don't know what it is, or how to get it. Any advice?

Norton products come in several different packages. Some are standalone and
some are a collection of their programs often referred to as a "software
suite." When you install a software suite, there is a main setup program.
During the setup process, you are able to choose to install all of the
individual programs in the suite or just some of them.

..MSI files are Microsoft Installer packages. These are sometimes run
directly but often you will run a "setup.exe" file which in turn and behind
the scenes will call on the .MSI files as they are needed.

I'm going to guess here that each of the installed Norton products shows a
listing in Add/Remove Hardware but the *main* portion of the program that
was responsible for their installation is designated as the "parent MSI."

Hard to say what Norton's means exactly by the term though. Using this
listing *should* uninstall all of the products. However, if you only wanted
to remove a program or two -- I don't know if they want you to use this
parent item or if they intend for you to use the individual listings
instead. You would need to check with Norton's tech support for the
recommended procedures.

Also the "parent MSI" might be what they recommend using for repairing the
programs. You should check that out with them too.
