Well, I booked a ticket for tonight to return back to my place of work (journey starts at 9.30 pm).. However, I had to postpone my journey. As always, I went through the really tortuous course of mailing their customer care for cancelling the ticket (Wonder when they are gonna provide the option to click and cancel directly from the orders section..!). Mailed them around 10 this morning, and got a response at around 12, that the bus ticket was NON-CANCELLABLE.
Now, this is surprising and annoying. I have never come across bus tickets that cannot be cancelled. And, I have cancelled similarly a couple of weeks ago also. I replied them asking to show me where in the website they have mentioned that those tickets were non cancellable. There is no response from them yet.

It is a matter of just around 200 rs. refund, so it's not something that I'd lose sleep over. But this looks like pure BS that their CC is spewing. I tried now and the site seems to have some issues over booking tickets with this particular travels, and the cancellation policy shows nothing (empty space.. nothing mentioned like non-cancellable) for this particular travels. But that doesn't mean they can blabber something and walk out of it with no concern for the customer.

May be weekend tickets arent cancellable or if that specific touring co. has such rules.
Nothing specific mentioned anywhere. As mentioned earlier, I had cancelled tickets with the same travel co. earlier also, and yes, it was a weekend ticket only.

paytm CC emails have always seemed to carry some aura of incompetence. Sometimes I feel if the person is replying just because he is obligated to even though he may not know the actual answer or is afraid to ask answers from their seniors.
Might want to call up and speak to them on phone just to verify.
(However, it may be the case that the particular travel agency does have a no-refund policy... but it should still have been mentioned on the site)

That is true.
May be this time paytm or that travel co. has changed the rules but havent yet updated on their site.

Called up the travel co., and they confirm that they have a cancellation policy. Their rules are also mentioned on their website.
Cancellation Policy
  1. Previous day of Departure - 10% of fare.
  2. Before 4 hours of Departure Time - 25% of fare.
  3. Before 3 hours of Departure time - 50% of fare.
  4. Within 2 hours of Departure time - 75% of fare.
  5. Next day travel if booked and cancelled within 2 hours - No Penalty.
There is no reason for paytm to say non-cancellable tickets, unless they are trying to hide an error on their side. As of now, I haven't received a reply to my mail asking them to show where it was mentioned that the ticket was non-cancellable.
