PC Peripherals PC Restarts Whenever I Try To Login , Pls Help!!!

Hades.

My pc restarts whenever i try to login... This started happening when i replaced my old Gigabyte Superb 460 and installed Corsair VX550... Just two days back i bought this new Corsair VX550 PSU :(... My previous PSU(Gigabyte Superb 460) was very stable and performed very well... And even the power cable that came with it is not working :(

I bought this PSU coz i have read many good reviews about corsair PSUs but now i m just regretting that why i bought this PSU :(...

What shud i do now? Shud i RMA this psu or shud i return this PSU to the shopkeeper? Or shud i take a new Seasonic 520w PSU instead of VX550 from the shopkeeper?

pls help wat shud i do?

If you picked it up just a day or two back the store keeper ought to take it back and offer a replacement straight off.

Check a couple of things -
* Try your old power supply. Do you run into the same problem?
* Does the system randomly reboot - You could try leaving it in the BIOS settings page and monitor the voltages being supplied.

Just recently i sold my 6 months old Gigabyte Superb to one guy... with gigabyte PSU my computer was working fine but with VX550 it restarts whenever i try to login... I will do the things u have adviced... :)

When i installed the vx550 in my rig just after 15mins my computer restarted...

But i didnt give too much attention to that restarting thing... but yesterday when the computer started restarting again and again then i became very sure that something is wrong with the PSU...

Does Windows show an unexpected/improper shutdown message everytime the system restarts??

Also, in case u just stay at the login page (without doing anything/logging in), does the system restart then?? Or it just remains on at the login screen??

Seems unlikely that the PSU 'detects the login' & restarts the PC..... The description of the problem makes me think that it is more like a software issue.

Boot up direcly from a live CD.
If you run into any error/problem then mostly likely your PSU has problem. Go for replacement.
But if the live CD boots up properly, then your windows is corrupt. Go for a fresh OS install.

any beeps, when exactly does it restart and does it replicate the problem ever time exactly, try swapping suspected items, boot to bios screen and note the keep alive time, if all looks fine, strip down the entire system and start adding one by one... first mobo n the psu and then ram, then display, then any pci card, then storage and check the fault at every stage.

Turn on PC and enter BIOS...Wait for same time frame the PC usually restarts and see if it happens even when you're on BIOS.

-if its win OS, try deleting that user acc and creating a new one... i had read this somewer but dunno the real cause..
-did you install and play any LAN games before the error came?
-is there any earthing prob at your place?

So what are you using for connectivity. See if you can get an original Corsair connecting cable, not that this should make much of a difference, but using a non compatible one 'could' be causing issues, and the unit good be fine. Is this enough for an RMA..?

There is some earthing issue in my home... coz whenever i touch my cabinet i kind of get a shock... Is this causing my PC to restart? My old gigabyte PSU bared all these kinda things... Or is it OCP (Over Current Protection) which is causing the pc to restart?

The power cord which came with it was not working so i used my another computer power cord to start the computer... I think the fuse which is beneath the 3 pin is dead... i tried to find the fuse in my local hardware shop but he was not having this whopping "21 AMP" fuse...

Update: Yesterday i went to prime, the place where i bought this unit from, they send me to their another office aka. RMA office. There this unit worked without any issue... They connected my PSU in one of their Rig just to show me whether this unit has some kinda problem or not and they run their rig for 20 mins on my PSU and my PSU worked fine... Just for my curiousity i told them to do some load test like prime95... They installed Prime95 and did load test for 15mins and my PSU even passed the load test... Now i am really confused? Now i think there's two possibilities...

1)Coz my home electricity has earthing issue

2)Or maybe my pc is restarting coz i m using another power cord...

BTW thanks guys for replying, i will do all the troubleshooting things that yall've recommended... :)

I did all the troubleshooting things but still no success... I read some vx550 negative feedbacks on newegg site... After reading those feedbacks I came to know that I am not the only person who is facing this problem... Even some ppl who bought this PSU from newegg faced this kind of issue... Pls guys read the feedback that ahren has posted on newegg... Pls guys help me out :(

2 or 3 complaints in the tens of thousands that have been sold is no big deal... Since the RMA guys checked it in front of you so there is no problem in the PSU. Also did they check it with the cord that you say has a problem or they checked it with their own cord??

My Unit came with an extra Fuse taped to the cord. remove all the wires and then reattach them, keep the cabinet away from anything that can cause earthing. Also can you please elaborate on the power cord not working thing???

yesterday i had called an electrician... He came at my home and solved the earthing issue... Although the earthing issue is gone but the restarting issue is still there... And as far as the power cord is concerned even prime rma guy used his cord to test my psu...
Btw asingh have u read the vx550 negative feedback on newegg?
Ahren who had bought this psu faced the same prob what i am facing now... Just read his comment if u can... :)

Have you connected the 12v 8pin connector to your motherboard.

No I didn't try the first method coz I don't think there's any problem in my windows 7... Coz my pc never restarted when I was using gigabyte superb... Btw have u read ahren's feedback which he has posted on newegg... Theres not a single difference between my restarting issue and the issue that he had faced...

Yes I did but I didn't connect the 8pin connector coz my mboard has typical 4 pin connector so I split the 8 pin into two and connected the one which was compatible wid my motherboard...

boot into bios and check whether the computer restarts...
if it doesnt, then the issue might be with windows/ software and not the hardware..that way you can isolate the issue without much effort and a windows format might fix the issue as well

No my computer doesn't restart when it is in bios. My computer sometimes even passes the heaviest load test "lynx" but sometimes it is not even able to enter in windows... It randomly restarts...
