CPU/Mobo Phenom II X4 975 B.E. - AMD hitting 4.4GHz on 45nm

Well, AMD has launched two processors:

Phenom II X4 975 B.E. 3.6GHz ~ 195$

Phenom II X4 840 3.2GHz ~ 102$

Yes you read right, 102$, but dont get fooled by the Phenom II name, it's really a Propous quad so no L3 cache. But still for 102$ a.k.a. 5.5k in India, you get 4 cores, at 95W TDP which is a great bang for buck, and good thing it might beat(or will beat) SANDY BRIDGE dual core parts, all which are priced much costlier than this.

If AMD proccs hitting 4.4Ghz on 45nm, and considering Bulldozer die to be smaller and on 32nm, I see good times ahead(hopefully).

Even more interesting, this 102$ processor Phenom II X4 840 seems to be hot on heels of the Core i5 750 which is certainly deserving a "wow", and if you look under "Power Consumption" in hardwarecanucks.com review, you'll see that both are at the same level. Amazing for a 90$ cheaper processor.

^^No its not a porpus. Porpus doesn't manufacture L3. While Phenom II 8 Series does have L3 but its locked which can easily be unlocked the same way you unlock core.

Who knows if they'll be able to hit better speeds with 32nm. The current 45bnm process is 2.25 years old now so its quite mature. I dont think they broke 4 Ghz on a quad even around launch time
