Why does the web cam packing say "clear and natural voice"/+digital microphone??

If yes, then why did you need a separate microphone. :S

That mic is supposed to be connected all the time, and can be toggled with a switch on it. Moreover, since it is just a mic, probably better technology, although just in 100Hz to 8KHz range. I convey clearly with these! Webcam's for occassional use only.
