Just a piece of advice, get a blackberry (full touch) coz it has excellent battery life and has everything you need. Android drains battery pretty quick (many apps have adverts which suck battery to death)

HTC one V and Xperia U cost 18K. Isn't it?
Motorola Defy + looks great and within my budget.

if these are the uses, why one need Android. WP7 makes a great buy too. Lumia 710. If android, then Motorola Defy Plus (no to XT) or Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman.

Yes. Android is not only the option. But, heard that Lumia 710 runs out of battery very soon. Dad needs a phone that lasts 1 full day atleast.
