Please Suggest a Digital Camera

Hello folks :)

I'm looking to buy a new camera for myself. My initial low end old camera, a Sony DSC S90 will be put to rest finally. It has been my friend for long ever since I bought it in my college days but now I need to change to something better.

I'm not at all an expert in the field of photography and for me it's been more of point and go click. :ashamed: Also, I spent a lot of time photographing my fishes in my aquariums at home. My budget is 15k and I want to buy within that mark. One of my buddies suggested the Canon SX130 IS. Should I get that? What are my other alternatives?

Please kindly suggest.

At 15k you should be able to get the Panasonic TZ10 or at least its younger brother TZ7. Both are amazing cams with excellent picture quality and good VFM. If you are looking for something from Canon, the SX130IS is a good one too. Among the Sonys, you will get the HX5V or the H55 within that price range. There is not much to separate these cams in terms of image quality, though some features are different in each.
 
I am also sailing in same boat and as novice as you are, I am also interested in SX130IS, and just wondering that how it can go against NIKON L120, it has 21x optical zoom..both are priced similar...needs in depth comparison!!

The Nikon L120 also looks to be a great camera. Will read a few reviews on it. Anyone here using the L120? Also, how is the Fujifilm FinePix S700 model, any good? I think it's priced at 11k?

More inputs needed here guys. :)
