Hi dear friends I would like to setup a DLNA for my home the main function the server has to do are

  1. Download torrent
  2. Download other files with direct linking
  3. store and stream media contents

First i want to set up my used pc with pentium D 2.8GHz processor and D102 intel board as NAS but it consumes more power and also noisy

I have found so many options like using atom processor but i cannot see any place in india who are selling it atleast online

So for my question

I seen some good review on pogo plug but the problem i see on them is that i need to have internet for accessing my files

I like that to somewhat but imagine some conditions where internet is not accessible but i need to stream to music to my phone then pogo plug will simply denies it

Is there any way i can remove the online authentication requirment by pogoplug

I am noob at technology so if you are just pasting some commands to run please explain it in detail or atleast post some place which i should check first to understand your post.

If I'm correct Seagate GoFlex Net allows you to access the share without Internet, you have to enable it when you register the device, just recently bought it and was testing it, will be up in the market soon as I also got a ASUS RT-N16 which also could kind of cater to your needs

1.Download torrent

You can download torrents on the router after you attach a hdd/pendrive to it

2.Download other files with direct linking

You can download HTTP/NZB/Magnet files

3.store and stream media contents

You can attach a hdd/pendrive to it and access it using any DLNA compatible device

Hi i have got ur opinion on Goflex but on many forum i have seen that go flex is very slow Is it true or not i mean simply how much time it will take to transfer 1gb file from computer to HDD via wifi or LAN

I have seen some other option on ebay here is the link

http://www.ebay.in/itm/EGREAT-R6A-II-Media-Player-FULL-HD1080p-HDMI-LAN-DLNA-Bittorrent-Youtube-BD-ISO-/110772995786?pt=IN_DVD_Players_Recorders&hash=item19ca95c6ca

So is it good and worth the money i will beusing some cheap 500gb HDD now may be even used one so please send me your replay

^ You will get 25-30 MB/s read speeds if using a SATA disk on the GoFlex Net with a Gigabit Switch over NFS / Samba

Its over the network, so you should have a Gigabit switch if you want higher than 100Mbit. Plus I don't think even a consumer level dedicated NAS will give you that speed.

If your primary intention is for downloads, NAS, etc better go for the Pogoplug, its available for 2.5k - 3k easily now. Unless you want a Media player it doesn't make sense to go for the Egreat, and the file transfer and torrent performance will be very much limited and poor.

where is the pogo plug available for 3k all places it is listed as 50$ or more used ones are listed as 35$ on amazon please could you tell me a place where i can get the pogoplug for that price

and also what is the software needed to get shell access to pogoplug

Okay one more question regarding pogoplug Since I have cable modem provided by ISP manufactured by motorola and it has only one ethernet port and Wifi Facility so is it possible for me to use any wifi dongle for connecting pogoplug to internet bcoz i don't want to buy a router and make a bunch of wires on my desk extra so is there any such facility
