Police uncover Pak link in London blasts

Investigators have said that at least three of the suspected bombers in the London transport system are British nationals of Pakistani origin.

At least one of them is believed to have travelled to Pakistan and Afghanistan before the bombings.

Terror links

The suggestion of a link between the London bombings and Pakistan has come from the neighbour of one of the suspects, Shahzad Tanveer of Leeds. He reportedly visited Pakistan and Afghanistan about six months ago.

"He's been travelling around Afghanistan for a couple of months, stayed there, and he stayed in Pakistan for a couple months in Lahore. That's what he told me," said the neighbour.

This is not the first time a major international terror attack is being linked to Pakistan. In the 9/11 attacks, at least two of the suspects were caught in Pakistan.

One of them, Omar Sheikh, is also accused of murdering American journalist Daniel Pearl apart from wiring US$ 1,00,000 to Mohammad Atta, one of the 9/11 hijackers.

Focus on terror camps

These revelations come just days after Indian Foreign Minister said that most of Pakistan's terror infrastructure is intact.

"Time and again, this government has said that there's an infrastructure of terrorism across the border which has not been dismantled that there are terrorist camps across the border which have not been dismantled," said Shyam Saran, Foreign Secretary, India.

Recent reports in the Pakistani media have spoken of 13 terror camps in the Mansehra region of Pakistan's North West Frontier Province.

These are training camps for jihadi groups like the Hizb-ul-Mujahideen, Al-Badr, Harkat-ul-mujahideen, Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed.

British police are still searching for the masterminds of the London bombings, but the investigation so far has added to the growing suspicion that Islamabad isn't doing enough to dismantle terrorist networks within Pakistan
