Android Power Button issue | Mi A3

been using mi a3 since the last 3 years.
last month the power button developed an issue, where i had to press it 2-3 times for it to work.
eventually the lower half stopped clicking and finally the whole button just got stuck.

replaced it in an official service centre, took 700 just for a piece of plastic.
now its happening all over again.
have to click 2-3 times sometimes.

what an odd issue , i will be pretty mad if this becomes the reason this phone goes to a landfill .
Has someone else faced this issue? in a3 or any other phone.
 
Since the phone is far from being under warranty. You can unlock bootloader and load up some custom ROMs with a custom kernel that offers the functionality of double tap to turn on screen. To lock phone up, there's something like double tap statusbar feature baked into custom ROMs. However, this workaround is not a 100% replacement for power button but im 90% cases you won't find any difficulty.

Please remember to back up all your internal storage somewhere else before trying this approach.
