the box says a minimum 350W PSU is recommended but i have no clue about my current PSU which came with the computer. its a Priya Voyager computer so i'm guessing they only included a cheap 250W PSU at max. i'll be getting a new PSU in a week or so but i wanna test my card now :p so i was wondering about the risks involved in using the card with a bad power supply. could the card get damaged in any way? i don't really care about what happens to the PSU since i have to get another one asap anyway. i just wanna try out the card for a little while.

If the PSU is not able to supply sufficient voltages on the 12,5,3 Volts
then less amount of voltage might be passed due to the load on the machine
leading to damaging of the components. [guys correct me]

also why dont u have some patience until u get a new psu.
why risk your card when u have paid so much for it , think this way.

Get a new PSU and then only test the card my advice to you.

Patience is the key to success

Yeah, wait till you get a new PSU. Mind you nothing will go wrong with the card, only your PSU will burn off.

I've seen it happen in front of my eyes with a freind's 6600GT, I would suggest a Powersafe 400W PSU, it'll be pocket pleasing too :)

Agreed.

Quaddie and Anish are right.

Get a cool 400W PSU or so.

My x800xl runs quite well on a VIP 350W PSU.

Stable Voltages though. 12 / 5 / 3 Volt rails are stable at their values.

HOW,TIMELY!......I was Just abt 2 ask the SAME question

NOW,if a 400W PSU of PS works for a 6800GS,

......will a Powersafe 500 w PSU/SMPS work FINE for the 6800GS ?

for I am also getting a 6800GS card!

.....I would have liked the ANTEC TP-2 550 w SLI PSU.....but at cost of Rs.7500 for that....i am preferring a 500W PS PSU@ Rs.2000 in my SLI rig(in NON-SLI mode)

So,am I right in my Decision?
