 :S :O:O:O WTF XFX reduced their price if they will reduce their 640 MB price then no other brand XFX only lose by their pathetic pricing but look at this :O really amazing :D Just wating for 640 MB to come on Earth :p

How Much performance Gain does the Ultra have over the normal GTX to justify the 4k extra ??

I guess the card referred as 8800 GTX Ultra in the first post is 8800 GTX XXX edition in fact. there is no 8800 GTX Ultra on the XFX site. The XXX edition has the core clocked at 630 MHz and the memory at 2 GHz.

There is indeed going to be a 8800 Ultra, but the GTX and Ultra terms do not co exist and the new card coming out will be 8800 Ultra which supposedly will use GDDR 4 memory and core clocked a bit higher offering a 10~15% gain over the current GTX. The card is expected to be released at the same time as the HD 2900XTX and going to be sold at a premium of $999.

I would not recommend the XXX or similar factory over clocked editions of high end graphics cards not just because of the price, but also because they are not designed to handle the Indian summer conditions.

As for the 8800 Ultra, if the performance gain is just 10~15% with such a substantial price difference, then its definitely not worth it.

Edit: Ok, Just came across this info about 8800 Ultra on inq

We are not sure how the situation will resolve with 8800 Ultra, but the final specs we have learned and are present on the boards given to reviewers, only and exclusively by Nvidia, are rather disappointing.

The GPU is not clocked to 675MHz, as some official documents from the past were stating, but rather a very conservative 612MHz, a 37MHz clock boost. The clock of 128 scalar units has been raised from 1.35GHz to 1.50 and memory is set at 2.16GHz instead of 1.80GHz, raising the memory bandwidth from 86.4GB/s to 103.68GB/s, still a couple of gigabytes short of upcoming Radeon HD 2900XT, with its 105.60GB/s.

Everything else remains the same as it was on the 8800GTX, and some partners suggest schematics how to create an 8800Ultra from a single 8800GTX board - an interesting turn of events indeed. Can you say... voltmod?

Yes, you have read this correctly - in order to create an 8800Ultra, you would have to search the search engines of today for schematics of 8800GTX and raise the voltage of the memory by two 0.05V notches, and the clock of 2.13GHz should be achieveable by almost every 8800GTX board out there. µ

Source: Final 8800 Ultra specs disappoint

The card is definitely not worth it.

Dude, can u atleast give us the source for the prices ....?

Justin thanks for the XFX 8800 Prices-- a friend was able to buy a 320MB XFX 8800.
Can U make this effort for other XFX 7 series cards too ? There are fake price-lists of computer components floating around web in India- saw one on Techtree -seems to be popular- but those are some hypothetical interpolated rates- This is first Real time- in market price I have come across.

Holy shit! Likely to reduce too? That's great news as I want to upgrade and jump on the PCI-E bandwagon! I wonder if I'll be able to find such a deal in Chennai though. :(
