I just bought the 7300GS from krisdkiller today.

When i ran the directx tests, there's these probs -

In the direct draw's full screen bouncing box test and the direct 3D tests, the boxes only appear on the BLACK part of the screen as in this pic -
(Suppose the whole canvas is the screen)

(Start>>>Run>>>dxdiag>>>Display)

Run Quake4/farcry/oblivion/3dmark 2005/6 etc and see if you get any artifacts. What exactly do you mean by wave sort of thing :S. Post a screenie here.

You wont get it with a screenie ....

Its like, a thin line sort of thing which goes from top to bottom. So looks like a wave .....

lol.

Even in the full screen test box bounces in kinda virtual square in middle of screen.

Whole screen is black but box does not go till the end of the screen. Dont worry thats how the test is supposed to run.

I had a BIG 7300GS for a week and that too used to give me a wave effect if I scrolled fast down pages - on my card the wave used to be about 3 text lines tall. I returned the card last week.

i think i know what u mean by wave. it is caused 99% of the time because of low refresh rate. a wave passing from bottom to top. get coolbits from guru3d.com for refresh rate overrides that will fix your problem.

the 2nd guess is i think how have u connected your monitor. is it going in the vga port or dvi. try getting a dvi to vga port n put monitor in that. because the vga port is not soldered on the card it could cause some ghosting as deejay pointed out.

Do you mean set vsync to OFF ?

Naa what stormy means is set the refresh rate to something higher than 60Hz in case of a crt. It doesn't apply to you eazy cos u have an LCD so refresh rate is meaningless.

Even the windows boot screen only runs on that part of the screen.

Please confirm. Is this a problem with the card ?

i dint understand what u are saying. windows boot running on part of the screen?

for vsync
rightclick on desktop > properties > advanced > geforce7300gs > performance/quality settings > scroll down to vertical sync & then put application control tick off n make vsync off.
