Hi people,
Let me first of all clarify that this is not meant to be any kind of personal attack on anybody. Secondly, I really admire people who take time out to take up a product and review them throughly, so that noobs like me get to make an informed decision.
Coming to my point:
I have noticed that in some reviews, where ever there are any kind of comparisons drawn, we have some bar graphs that are put up. I dont have much knowledge to comment on whats wrong and whats right when it comes to hardware, though when it comes to presentation of data, I dont feel its that accurate a representation.
For example:
This is a set of data pulled up from a recent review.
Now on the left, is something that has been taken automatically by MS Excel. See how the difference seems pronounced, the same set of data taken from the point of reference of 0 as a minimum value.
The auto min and max limit do affect how one would perceive performance visually, however real world difference are probably negligible, like how it would show in the right. That, I feel, is a better representation of facts.
Along with throwing in numbers on vantage and 3dmark, have a couple of lines which probably explain any boost in number to a viable boost in real world application will help us a lot more.
Let me know if I have erred here in any way.
Thanks.
