Well this friend of mine who is a impulsive buyer bought a ps3 from croma for his 7 yr old kid and is now repenting seeing the pricey titles for 3-5k each.

he wants to mod it , hes planning on downloading n burning games , bandwidth not an issue for him.

what are the downsides to moddoing a ps3 ?is it worth it , if yes who are reliable people in mumbai , their details and rates would be appreciated.

Approached Alfa,Irla and they bluntly refused saying they dont do such stuff anymore, maybe coz of fear of the cops.

1.) PS3 MODCHIP for playing different region PS2 Games & entire PS3 backup games not available yet
2.) You will need to open the Playstation 3 to install the Infectus2 PS3 Development Chip
3.) Segments of certain Games on Copied DVD Media can be played on PS3 but not entire games yet.
4.) PS3 Mod chips soon to be released will work on most model PS3 consoles
5.) PS3 modchips will be made available to suit different model Playstation 3 consoles
6.) Please be patient as always.
 
the PS3 is not yet hacked,plus mod chip site will say anything to sell u a chip..it aint as simple as a PS1 or PS2

plus the cost of buying a blank blu-ray and a blu-ray burner is expensive...ur frnd should've bought a PS2 for his kid,that would have been a better choice
 
DONt even think of doing any thing like it,, u will destroy ur ps3,

better enjoy ps3 with buying disks or u'll have to keep crying after doing mods
 
There going to be no point to modding this system anyway. With more and more downloadable content, firmware upgrades, and multiplayer online games, all it will take is a simple update from Sony to block / ban your ps3. And even if they don't ban it will be a cat and mouse game where sony will provide patches to block the hacks, and then the modders will have to upgrade their modchip firmware etc. etc.
 
^^ true, and the security systems of ps3 and xbox 360 are very similar. yet x360 ws hacked for homebrew...it then led to piracy. ps3 can already run homebrews, so there is not much of a need for the hacker communities to hack the ps3 (best hackers=good purposes).

^^ Unfortunately the PS3 uses Bluray disks which is new and relatively unknown. If the Xbox 360 wants to stop piracy they need to shift to Bluray too.

bluray is not the reason that the ps3 isnt modded yet. its the software.

Reasons.

1. High cost of materials involved for trial and error.

Ps3 and Bluray burner and media. It needs the DL.

2. The SDK is very hard even for the developers

3. No point for hackers. Coz it have inbuilt functions for linux and HDD swapping.

4. No region coding for games.

The points 3 and 4 Itself was the most sensible decisions taken by SCE.
