One of friends PSP slim which I had modded for him, freezes right at the Menu XMB after it boots up.Only the volume and brightness keys work and nothing else. It's currently on some 5.XXX M33 CFW.

I tried lot of methods like entering the recovery menu , erasing flash1 and reinstalling firmware etc. but it doesn't work.If i reset everything the PSP freezes at the language /time zone select settings.

First I thought the keys have stopped working but then they work in the recovery menu :S.Seems to be some firmware / hardware issue.

Since it's more than 1.5 yrs old it's not even in warranty. Does sony repair out of warranty consoles ?

Any one knows of a shop /person who is skilled at repairing consoles ,PSPs etc . in Mumbai ?

Thanks a lot :)

^ Woah :O. Thanks a lot man .I had tried it earlier and it had not worked :S.But i reflashed the PSP today and disabled VSH menu and it's working fine now. Will test it for another 2-3 days before returning it to him.

He thought his mom messed up with the PSP cause he didn't let his younger bro play Tekkan on it .

What's the latest M33 CFW ? Any new games worth playing ?

the problem happened to me too I did load of research then found the solution :D

games worth playing are Gta chinatown wars/vice city, assassin creed etc

Also try Patapon 1 and 2... would be irritating at first but it is damn addictive,
especially fun when you have the CWH cheat enabler :).
Peace~

^hey whats a cwh cheat enabler do we have to get it or download it from net

It is CWcheats btw.

It is a Plugin for PSP with CFW, once enabled you can apply cheats to most of the games, along with some more useful functionality.

Yes it can downloaded from the net, try googling or check this out.

If you need any more help, you can always PM me.

Peace~

Though the problem was 90% solved using the solution given by Krates, the PSP is still giving two problems.

When in game I press the " Home " button to Quit to XMB it shows me options "Do you want to Quit-YES or NO " .

At this poistion the NO option is selected and no matter what I do, it doen't move to the YES option.

2) Also when i push the hold button for more than 4-5 seconds to "TURN it OFF " , it goes on hold and doesn't turn off, the moment i release the hold button it wakes up from Hold :S. In short I can't even turn off the PSP completely.

So the only way I can get out of a game is by removing the battery.

The PSP slim is currently on 3.90 M33 firmware which is pretty old , do you think upgrading the firmware might solve the problem ? Will be trying it tonight.

I am also facing problem 2 :(

My suggestion is upgrade to 5.50 gen D3, its a decent firmware most of the things wok out of the box

Ok here is the solution this happens due to the hold key is stucked or the select key any one of them

just a temporary solution

when on the Yes No screen

Slide the hold button down for a sec and then place it in the middle

then you can choose between Yes | No

I am facing a similar problem on my PSP but mine is a hardware issue I think the button with the music symbol seems to be stuck any Idea on how much it will cost to replace the buttons ie Select Start Home etc.Disabling the VSH menu does help a bit though thanks for the tip.
