Hi Guys,

Planning to purchase a PSP but not sure which one to get...
price is not an issue...will favour using legit game copies..so wont be hacking/Modding it(even if i wanted to, don't know how to :) ).

Heard PSP 3004 does not have blue tooth , that will definitely be a deal breaker.

Anyway please give your opinion...

PSP Go is a no deal man .. You would end up paying the same money as UMDs but get nothing in return .. Its like buying games from the steam .. U just can download a copy .. At 200$ ++ price point its near the console price range (more expensive than Wii ithink) so thats a negative price point too ..
PSP 3000 Series have screen issue .. I have a 2K and 3K and the same game on the 3K run wierdly from the same UMD

By "wierdly" do you mean it is totally not playable or the resolution is not good?
Can u elaborate a bit more on what exactly are the screen issues?

And is it true that 3004 does not have a bluetooth connection?
 
Well, if you're going the legit way, and if price is not an issue, i'd suggest you pick up the PSP GO.

1. 16GB of memory on board. No carrying around UMDs.

2. Games you purchase online can be shared with upto 5 systems.

3. Easier to carry

4. Better ergonomics

5. Good to show-off as not many people have it.

6. Better battery life

A few cons

1. Screen is slightly smaller

2. No PSN in india, so you'll have to use a US account and buy games using PSN cards.
 
If you plan to go completely legit with your PSP, then go for the PSP Go. The games can be downloaded with ease, so no hassles of carrying around bulky UMDs all the time. Also the prices for PSN store games should be a tad bit lower than actual physical copies of the games. This last needs to be supported with more information, so don't bank on it.

OTOH if you plan to mod your PSP, then get a 2000 or 3000 series. Tutorials to mod, crack, hack or even brick your PSP are available on this forum, as well over the internet.

This is slightly OT here, but how is getting a game from PS Store not as good as getting the UMD? I mean PSN supports DLC, and various updates right?

But I agree with you on one thing, the price of the PSP Go. It is too expensive.
 
Umm..thanx for the reply guys..

BTW if i get a 3004 do i need to carry the umd everywhere?..can't the game be loaded from the memory card ? or is this why modding is done?

And what is the average price of UMD's?

What i meant was that i pay 38$ for the same Game .. Now in UMD i can sell it later on to others who might be interested in too but is that possible in PSN? Can i transferr games?
PSN is not available in India .. wudnt it be a headache getting a US account n all if its possible?
Lastly the PSP 3004 has Scan Lines Issues where as the PSP Go has a smaller screen with cheap build quality too ..
 
You are correct about the 3000 PSP display issues.

But yes, you can share games with upto 5 PSPs. As for creating a US based PSN account, I am pretty sure that it is as simple as filling some US based address in the account details. I did the same for my iTunes account and nothing has gone wrong in any way!.

if you get PSP 3004, and if you want to carry your games around, then you'll have to carry your UMDs with you. As you surmised correctly, PSP modding/hacking is done or this purpose, to store and run games off the memory stick.

Average price of UMDs - Games which are low in popularity and are pretty old can be bought for 599-999 INR. Latest games and more popular games average around 1k-2k. That is about $20-40.

PSN Store also prices the games accordingly and sometimes you can find good games for less. Also the advantage of PSN is the plethora of "Mini" games.

I'll say it again for OP's benefit, If you plan to go totally legit, then PSP Go is the device to buy. If you want to hack you PSP, then PSP 1000/2000/3000 are the thing.
 
What exactly do u mean by sharing a game between 5 PSPs ? I mean isnt it better to just sell of the UMD and buy a new one ?
As for the resale value of the PSP Go would you factor in the Games linked with the PSN Id ? Deciding the resale value would be tricky in this case if some one just wants the PSP console and not the games linked to your ID

I meant the games wudnt have a resale value in PSP GO .. Why do u think the the retailers are not selling the console .. They would have no business from it after they sell the console ..
Even if i delnink the account from the console then wat? Sell the Console seperately and then find a buyer for the entire PSN account ? Here i can just sell any single UMD seperately ..

Ok Guys..Have decided to get the PSP 3004 ...

First of all Thanx to all for your suggestions...

So can anyone suggest me a place where i can purchase it with warranty and a reasonable price... i would like to get one of those bundled packages..

Is sony world the best place to get it or any other options?
Is there any TE dealer who can give me a good offer?

btw i will be in delhi for another month or so(working on-site :( )...

Yes i knew that, so was planning to buy it online and get it shipped to india..but now decided to buy 3004 instead..
 
if u dont worry about the warranty + wanna buy original games only then i will definately say go for PSP GO. If u dont wanna buy GO then go for 3004. Just went to a shop today they were selling 3004 with a bundled game. It was a september manufactured

Nah man, hyper portability is not a big deal for me as i will always be travelling with a back pack..

Update : Well guys i did not go for either of them and finally purchased PSP slim (aka 2004) with CFW 5.03 GEN A.

BTW i bought it from prashaant.. and have to say very good service. special note on packaging in which it came..rock solid. will definitely recommend him to anyone.
Kudos to phoenix844884 for helping me decide and setting the PSP, after purchasing it.

Till now have played God of War(UMD)(finished it:eek:hyeah:) awesome game..
Tekken-DR(ISO)..Ratchet and clank(UMD)...Everything works great..
Just wish it supported more video formats than jus mp4:mad:

Hey btw all you 2004 owners how much battery are you guys getting?
When fully charged that battery info shows 6.5 hours but battery dries out after playing for about 3 to 3.5 hours in mid brightness.
