Laptops Qosmio G30 shutdown problem!

One of my friends here has a Toshiba Qosmio G30..

Out of the blue, the thing shuts down wen some apps're being run..

Say, browsing for around 40mins, the thing jus shuts down..

But surprisingly it doesn shut down abruptly wen gaming..

Here're the specs:

C2D T2500 @ 2GHz;

1GB RAM;

nVidia 7600 gfx;

I doubt its cos of the fan not spinning..

Guys, pour ur inputs pl.. Absolutely clueless here.. :ashamed:

No greenie, its not.. It just shuts down in a blink of the eye..

Happens every 20 mins while browsing the net.. But never when playing games.. :huh:

1 GB 667 DDR2 (512x2 IIRC);

And seems like one day he heard the whoosh noise when he'd resumed it from standby; the fans spinnin perhaps;

I doubt if the fans are not spinnin at all since the room is absolutely silent when operating it; only sound I can hear is the HDD spinning.
 
Did you see where it was placed wen it shutdown? or the same place everytime? cos cud be placed on a bed or something while surfing etc n shutdown duo to overheating. If placed on a table while gaming, it would be fine. :)
 
^^The lap is placed atop 2 books on either side so that it is raised;

Hwever irrespective of the placement, the shutdown saga continues. :(
 
my sister's 4 year old compaq does the same too. No over heating issues (checked temps with speedfan) but just shuts down at oncve.

Guess I'll ask him to take it to the service centre, which apparently is in Abu Dhabi. :(
