guys what does hypertransport do ?
i have an option in my bios its set on auto.it shows other options of 1x 2x 3x 4x 5x .if i put it on 5x will it do good?
i have an A8N-E mObo with amd 3000+ oc'ed at 2ghz

Hypertransport is used to connect your amd processor to the main memory and other peripherals. The multiple (2x, 3x, etc) is multiplied with the htt (which you increased when you overclocked). Adjust your multiple so that the multiplication yields <=1000 (or, 2000 ddr) for stable operations.

Also, read a decent amd64 oc guide before you oc yours.

normally(non oc'ed system), you would leave the Hypertransport multiple at its maximum setting in your BIOS.

the multiple is usually lowered when you oc the bus speed so that the system retains its stability...for a 3000 oced to 2 gig, the right multiplier would be 4x

just did tht

for the records further i increase bus speed i shuld lower tht htt level ?

for say 2.2 shold put it to 3x...so on

nways thnx man

system is currently stable

say with a default 200 mhz FSB and a HT multiplier of 5x, your system will be stable at 1000mhz HT speeds or lower, so say if you push up your FSB to 230, lower the HT multiplier to 4x so that 230X4<1000

or if you pusjh the FSB to 260, lower the HT to 3x so that 260X3<1000
