hi,
my current rig is not giving the performance i expected from it.i sometimes feel it is slow. My friend told me that it is bcoz of the hdd and i should replace it. i have seagate ide 160gb drive. Therefore, i ran this hd tune test and the results were:

Please advise me whether the laggy performance is really due to the hdd. And if so, please advise the best drive (500gb or higher) available for under Rs. 3000. I will be mainly using it for normal use like surfing, watching movies and a little bit of gaming. I will prefer western digital hdd as they have 5 years onsite warranty.
also, how r these drives and which one is the best:
WD 640gb blue
WD 500gb black

My rig:
Phenom II 940 BE 3.0ghz
Biostar 790gx + 128mb
Corsair 2gb 800mhz

The WD 500GB Black WD5001AALS is out of your budget! Your best bet is to get the other alternative from your list. The 640GB Blue performs extremely well in day to day applications such as gaming, using A'cad, viewing HD rips etc.

BTW, this low speed of the Seagate drive is quite usual for an IDE drive. Tweaking and defragmenting this drive will not help by a huge margin.

try to purchase 32 mb buffer version from western digital or try for western digital re3 500 gb hdd for its reliability and performance
