Hi

Please give some info about the Wi-Fi feature of ASUS P5B Deluxe/WiFi-AP motherboard. ASUSTeK Computer Inc.

1. does it come with all motherboard, or 'optional' ?
2. if say all 8 PCs are of this motherboard, can they form a LAN without any other devices ?
3. current price ?
Reply soon

yep the deluxe version comes with wifi and yes they can form a adhoc network not sure how good that would be,investing in a cheap router maybe better

current price - not 2 sure 13k i guess

Yes, they can link up to form LAN.

1 PC can be the hub, while the only 7 can connect to it.

Sorry can't get you.

not any-to-any ??

^^One PC is the access point, others are clients. However the wifi software for this functionality that asus provides is quite flaky. I'd not use it. Easier to buy a 2k dedicated router.

you can setup a simple ad-hoc network without using the soft access point mode that Asus uses...

But I would use that more as a temp measure than anything else..case wheer I quickly need to tfr files from 1 machine to tother where there is no proper LAN

I'd rather buy a cheap Netgear router for a more effective solutionas the network speeds on ad-hoc networks drops drastically with multiple clients

if your spending so much on these mobos, makes more sense 2 put in some more and get a wifi router or else get a p5b vanilla and use the exra cash 2 buy the router........
