Hi All,
Have been facing a strange issue, was testing a couple of drives using TDTach and HDTune
1. Samsung HD502HI 500 GB x 2

2. WD 500AACS 500 GB x 2

3. WD 500AAKS 500 GB x 2
This are drives some from my freinds, some mine, when using either TDTach or HDTune, in the Random Access Test the drive makes noise louder than it's normal operation, is it normal, can anyone comment on it
Any inputs!
Thanks

That noise must be from the spindle(Sounds like a scratch over a rough surface?) which according to my personal experience is a dying HDD. Lost 2 Drives that way.

Checked for bad sectors?

Brand new drives man, clueless, it's going to be pain to send them for RMA again, wish SSD was cheaper,

Did you try to check your Drive in RAT, does it make the noise, if not then let me know the brand and model.

^ first time i've seen someone spam their own thread!

btw noise can occur if you have not installed your hdd's properly in the cabinet.

i removed noise from my hdd by placing a piece of corrugated carton that comes in packing between the hdd sides and the cabinet walls. this has made the hdd quite stable and reduced vibrations from the cabby from reaching the hdd to a large extent.

Nah man, the icons are bcos of how things work, hdd noise from 6 drives, leading me to getting irritated with hardware, when it does not work properly, software you can understand, how many components do you have to keep checking on ! checked out on silentpc there are 2 Samsung HD502HI 500 GB drives which are know to be extremely silent, but with newer firmware they do make noise, so in all don't know what the F is going on !
