CPU/Mobo Recommendations for a heatsink for LGA 1156

I have an Intel i5 750 CPU. Never been overclocked. It has a stock Intel heatsink as seen here:

Yesterday, I noted that temps of cores were around 80-85 degrees according to HW monitor. Today, I removed the stock Intel heatsink, removed the old thermal paste and re-applied Artic MX-2 paste. Unfortunately, when I was trying to reinsert the heatsink, 2 of the plastic pins broke. As a result, the heatsink does not 'lock' and stay in place when my cabinet (CM HAF 922) is in a vertical position.

So temporarily, I have placed my cabinet flat on the table, the heatsink held into place by gravity. HW monitor is showing temps to be around 45 degrees, which is acceptable to me.

2 questions:

1) Is it alright to continue using the PC when the cabinet is lying horizontally? The alignment of the hard drives has changed, I hope this won't be a problem. This is of course temporary until I get a new heatsink

2) Can someone please give recommendation for a Socket 1156 heatsink? Nothing fancy, I never overclock so should I reorder the stock heatsink?

Or should I look at the Deepcool ones? The advantage of the Deepcool's are I can get them by tomorrow if I order via Amazon.
