Today when I switched on the computer and windows loaded a noticed red artifacts on the screen I tried refreshing but this only increased them. I checked the temprature it was at 49C.
I have never overclocked the card. FYI it's an XFX 7800GT.
I switched off the PC and reinserted teh card in it's slot after dusting off inside the slot etc. It's been two hours now and it's working fine.

Here's a screencap: http://watchtheworld.org/images/45.jpg

What could be the problem?

last time i had block artifacts on my 9800 pro and maskie had artifacts on his card too that showed up on screen caps..

@apsk121, it could be due to dust but the temp you posted seems pretty ok.. could be a card on its last legs.. try for rma if it happens again .

have you tried it on a diff pc ?

^^ yep same here, when card got loose, and when the external power connector on the card got loose, I got similar artifacts. Nothing to worry about, just try re-inserting the card...

looks like your psu is underpowered to supply this monster.

which psu is it?

it happened to me too when i put a new gpu to my system. the psu was too underpowered i changed it and issue got solved.

another problem could be heat make sure the card is ventilated well.

He got the problem only once. so its likely not a PSU issue. more likely that the card got loose...
