Skilled
Hey all,

Well I am from Pune, I am plannin to buy my System from here itself...eventhough i know that price differences are big between Mumbai and Pune...Main reason...for LOCAL WARRANTY.....:S

Anyways....Still i could purchase major components from there...coz then it would save me a lot..!! Besides i doubt if i could find 7900GS in Pune...:hap5:

So i was wondering if anyone could tell me abt Reliable Shops @Lamington Road, coz i have never been there...and so dunno which ones offer Good Prices...and After Sales support..!! :hap2:

Addresses and Phone Nos. would be great.... :)

PS:- I have heard that these ppl don't quote EXACT prices if asked by phone...!! :ashamed:

Thanx

yes they dont give you exact prices of slow moving items though..
i have a shop which is very reliable and amazing after sales support.

Jay Computers-
23884599
I find the lowest price here as i compare the price given by his competetor (Computer Selection) as they were together some years back so i get huge discounts ;)
& others are
Plug-in-the best PC shop-keeps all the things latest-though very nice support
Computer selection-very good warranty support,
Cassette world-known for high price, bad support
PC guide-known for offering at very reasonable price very nice after sales warranty support when my speakers went kaput.

the shopkeepers dont even give approx prices over the phone

heres some info i compiled after browsing thru techtree forums for a few hours:

most popular shops there are computer selections(23824567 / cassette world / PC Guide (all near to each other)

Apex for AMD chips(opp dreamland cinema)(Nilesh 23895548)

Samvik computers for high end chip/mobos

Mahavir-1st left after cassette world

As far as I know APEX do not specialise in AMD CPU ...Samvik is the BIG AMD CPU dealer.

APEX are the people for Canon Vantec CoolerMaster ASUS APC and some other brands I cannot recall.

For a large selection of hardware Prime ABGB 23855500 23896600

I find Plug n Play (opp. police station) Ph.no. 02266348784 to be very good..they give very good prices and i never faced any problem with the stuff bought from there..they have a gr8 after sales service too..

Prime ABGB is good too but their prices are often higher than the others..but they keep stuff tht are sometimes not available anywhere else..:)

^^^ yes yes as i told they keep all the latest stuffs like vibration special gaming mouse for just 1.6k. and such things not available at other shops..

Basically most of these shops are hand in glove with each other - they have a network amongst themselves and often one shop will have a product and all the others quote for the same piece. Go to one shop and ask for a specific hardware and they will phone the person who has the actual stock and when you move from shop to shop you will get different prices for the very same piece and when you reach the shop who actually has the hardware he knows which shops you have been to. The Lamington Road dealers have their own private phone network. :)

@ dipen01

Most products you buy from mumbai can be given to pune's service centers like mobos, monitors etc.

@eazy

totally agree with you, btw does anyone know who these guys call, i mean can we directly buy from this main wholesaler???

i know 1 sony dealer.. i bought my Sony CDRW in dec 05 for very cheap n works flawlessly now.. i dont remember the name but i remember the place vividly

I used to buy from Computer selection before, till Jay brothers set up thier own shop. I am buying from those two guys since 6 years and not once have they let me down. I must have bought over 60 computers thru them.

Address and name of shop of the Jay bros ? .. PLEASE ....

@Hacker ... what these guys do is..... the first thing when they open the shop in the morning is to phone each other and get info on what is available at which shop and at what price.... when I have been at a shop the moment they open I have seen this happen. I dont think there are wholesaler/warehouses hidden in the back streets of Lamington Road.... the only warehaouses I know of are of the Disti's which are located in Vashi where all the hardware is taken from the Airport to avoid octroi.

hmmm...my personal experince

computer selection.......good to buy stuffs...but they always force products which when dead they show service centre loation instead of helping......buy frm them only if u know wht u want not lik giv me a tuner card and they will force there stuff which doesnt sell

pc guide....always price quoted higher than wht i get frm other shops.....but no product dead so far....

casette world....idiots.....jus there to make money..if customer ask to show2 keyboards to compare which is good they say plz kindly leave we have a customer ready to pay money than person lik u to bargain

prime:::well always u get most stuffs frm them...but never on showcase......but u need to say u belong to te community else they too try to stick product to u thinking u r fool(newbie...no idea wht to buy of course with higher price range)...else good support

other shop shree computers on road side.......all products price always high dont know why some ppl support them

aah waiting for address of samvik, jay brothers and apex....

also some shop stormblast mention way bak.....sayin they too giv decent prices

also there is a small shopof a sardar times computer opposite comp selection lane(in the same lane of pc guide)

...ull get hdd 50-100 rs cheaper than the best price quoted ard...though wont support to buy full pc lik mobo and other stuffs

also somone coming up with some photoshop or google image of this will be highly appreciable

just call up jay computers and get the address. its almost opp to PC guide, next to that xerox wala near the small temple and besides the staircase.. very reasonable rates & support. and none of the things went kaput which i got from PC GUIDE, JAY COMPUTERS, COMPUTER CULTURE (Best childhood experience) , PLUG IN, Computer selection

hmm nvidiabeast if u have any experince regarding stuff goin kaput than pls share how the shop deal with it......

i went to buy tv tuner card comproone..but comp selection forced me an asus...which worked hardly a day

went bak to the shop and the owner says goto service centre and than chaos there where other dealers with 10-10 mobos in line..and lot of time waste......

also when i came to knew 939 x2 socket price reduced alot than the dealer wa sticking a 3800+ with a cheap mobo for 19k whereas i knew that 3800+ price was ard 10-11k ....at that time

regarding prime i went to buy benq 1640..with a budget of 3.6k the owner said go for plextor...which i agreeis the best stuff but price was 7k

1.Big things i bough has not been kaput as yet.. but when i bought my Geforce 4 MX 440 from Comp culture (around 2002), its fan stopped working after 2-3 mts usage and i noticed it after i got frequent hangs n stuffs like that. so i went back to Computer culture and he said it wud take 2 weeks to replace the fan, (was small fan though) 30mm i guess. so i said i cant wait for 2 weeks and then i bought similar kind of fan from market and got it replaced by myself..

2.My lan card went kaput after 4 years .. cant claim warranty though. i bought from the network shop next to some music shop (lady) on cassette world lane.

3.my speaker went kaput-PC guide actually Guided me where the service station was.. with address ;) ok support though.

4.Card reader went kaput.. (out of warranty)

5.things bought from USA went kaput for less then a year
My Aopen Geforce FX5700LE and MSI NX6600GT AGP DDR3

6.Samsung optical drive (CDRW) went completely kaput.. bought-computer selection-reported him, he told me to go to service station as i was in urgency so he gave me address..

so i received no major problems except the graphic cards got fried... and i bought another 6600GT OC version BiG brand.. still OC like mad and got Vantec Iceberq 5 on it and workd like a charm.

7. Bought Vantec UV LED fan. its white light got dim so contacted Apex enterprice Mr.Jagat. he said must be cause of the dust on the fan. I said ill clean it and then see. still dim White lights.. so i am lazy to go back to him and claim it.. lol

8.My old monitor 17" samsung753s bought from Comp Selection- the startup switch went kaput (some IC problem) so the on switch stopped working. i called CS & gave me helpline no. callep up samsung ppl and got their engg the next day.. they said it will take 2 days & they need to take monitor to service station-i took replacement monitor for 2 days but when i recd my fixed monitor, there were some scratches on screen which was disturbing me everytime i looked at screen so i said ****in ppl handling things badly.. i was suspecious that they must have replced the glass tube. anyways i replace 753s with 753DF flat screen professional monitor for just 1000bux.

so the worst experience was with the samsung service centre for not able to repair my samsung cd-rw (repaired once - was working for a day and again kaput in a day-they said repair cost or replacing lens-1.5k) so i bought new sony cd-rw from the original sony dealer and scratched monitor whic was bad!

My friend bought a Samsung 798 mb plus from Plug n play on 26th dec..actually i bought it for him as the guys at plug n play kno me well..but my friend didnt open the monitor till 1 jan 2007 as he was out of town..but to his surprise, when he opened it up, the monitor seemed already opened up..the bottom of the monitor, where the stand is fixed, was scratched..some silver paint had come off..so we went to Plug n play on 2nd jan to complain about the same..since they had got the sealed pack monitor for us from the disti, it was not their fault..even then they made a few calls to the disti..(had an argument with them) and got us a fresh sealed pack unit...

I am quiet happy with the kind of customer relationship they have shown..normally dealors send customers to service centers if there is a problem with a product..more so after almost a week, we get a new replacement..they cud have easily said tht we've done the damage..but they never questioned us..

Plug n play rocks..:eek:hyeah:

yes yes. there is 1 guy at plug n play who is owing Ngage QD (donno if he still owes that cell now) is very smart guy and gives promt prices.. and yes.. as i said its one of the best shop which keeps advanced technology.. also its the 1st shop where i saw 1st ever LED FANS & CCFL at lamington years back... and yes bought the Guardian NXGT look a like cabinet from that shop whcih has transparent sides with LED fans
