Dear All,

I am having an old Dell Vostro 1400 laptop which comes with an INTEL CORE 2 DUO T7250 2.00GHZ, 800, 2M.
The laptop also comes with 128 MB NVIDIA GEFORCE 8400M G graphics card.

Can I repurpose the CPU and GPU and create a basic desktop?

If I want to reuse this processor, which motherboard should I buy?

Also, How can I find the socket type as the laptop is not functional.

That proc would either be soldered into the motherboard (BGA) or using a different PGA socket, which is not compatible with any desktop board socket (desktop boards had shifted to LGA sockets). Same holds true for the GPU - most likely soldered in.

I would suggest to sell the CPU. Its old, wont play FHD videos properly. As for the GPU, aint those the overheating type?

As for getting boards and all, you will get boards which will accept the CPU. But, it would work out more cheaper to buy a Pentium G3220 + H81 board which will kick this CPU out of the water. Plus the Pentium will do QuickSync - which is a very useful feature.
