Hi guyz
i just was going through soe Rate lists from my vendor today. he quoted me roughly a price of 3600 for an X550/256mb. The plain nonGT 6600/256mb is roughly 6700. So which one wins ur Vote ? I guess the performance remains almost same but X550 is 4 pipes & 6600 is 8 pipe though i guess the clock speed is roughly the same around 400mhz, am i right?

Me not being much techie abt Gfx tech parameters request u a decisive comparison betw. the two. Pls bear in mind that we are talkin abt budget cards here & PRICE is a BIG BIG concern so pls weigh the cards as per pricewise. Atleast i feel like X550 is a good option after I checked some reviews for X550 & saw it can play HL-2 & farcry pretty acceptabaly, which i think , is good enough to entice newbies wanting to enter the gaming world.

Thx

I can safely say that the 6600 Vanilla is much better than the x550, its better than the x600 series too actually.

Youd rather just wait for a few weeks. Prices will drop. x1*** is here :D.

The X550 is supposed to be a replacement for the x300 part which is the direct competition to the 6200 and not the 6600. So you are actually talking about two different parts in different price brackets. If you want better gaming performance i would suggest the 6600nongt though the 256Mb on it is pretty useless. And if the you the situation is such that pricing is of extereme importance the x550 is indeed a very good solution at that cost.

Yup the 6600 is a lot better.

But then see the prices and say, though I would vote the X550 better than 6200...
