Hi all

GTX 680 =1536 cudas (3 times that of GTX 580)

Price(GTX 680) = Price(GTX 580)

Is it a call that I should sell my 9800 gt?

Selling price at best (for 9800 gt) = Rs 3500/-

I can only add 500/- more. to have total 3500 + 500 =Rs 4000/-

Will Rs4000/- buy me an equally or more powerful gpu than my current one, in the upcomming market of 28 nm cards?

Maxwell gets my mouth watering, but don't really know what to do?

Regards

If 4000 could get a better gpu then 9800gt, why would anyone buy your 9800gt for 3.5k
<

^ thats right, 2.5k is the max you can get for a 9800gt. even i sold my 8800gt for 2.3k (and 8800gt == 9800gt)

^ I can sell it locally at that price. But that's not what am talking about. Am asking whether there will be gpus running faster than 9800 gt with half the price of it?

u can get a used GTX 260 or 4870 or similar card under 4k which will give 2x performance .

That's true. But is the 28 nm thing alarming ? will it call for a sudden price drop? That's what am afraid about, cuz if that happens, nobody is going to buy my card.

its not alarming since next gen cards wont come for cheap initially , and other lower range cards wont face much price drop .. if u are getting 3.5k for 9800GT , sell it .

If getting anything more then 2.5K for this card just blindly sell it.

lol.. isn't that cheating with people ? i mean if they're not aware of these conversations / don't know much about resale value or tech news , then i think we're same as politicians.. looting public which they're unaware of.

Sell it eyes closed if you can get 3.5k for that then add up as much as you can and ask #[member='ALPHA17'] for what card to choose. He'll tell you the best deal.

Hey thanks for the heads up #[member='Altair'], #[member='Ameet148'] sell the current 9800GT for the highest price you can get for it [if you are getting ~3500/-] for it now, sell it. See rationally speaking I will not call this cheating or swindling the customer because,
  • The customer is supposed to check for other deals for similar performing cards.
  • You are a seller your motive is not profit in the light of the situation, but circumstances are giving you a decent boost so why wait for this chance to slip.
  • About your last query the situation is not very very cheery, because at the ~4000/- price range none of the Southern Island cards are out as well as the cards which will be released come out will be based on the older VLIW 5 architecture. I am not sure of Kepler as nVidia has kept everything under wraps and I don't see Kepler budget cards coming out before Q3 --> Q4 this year.

The best option considering your predicament is --> sell your 9800 GT, because you are getting a cracker of a deal on it. Save a little for a month, for 6500/- get this AMD HD 7750 --> http://www.anandtech.com/show/5541/amd-radeon-hd-7750-radeon-hd-7770-ghz-edition-review / http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/AMD-Radeon-HD-7750-Video-Card-Review/1492.

Hope this helps, Cheers!!
