Hi

I just found this deal on Newegg

Seems to be quite a steal

Newegg.com - Rosewill Green Series RG530-2 530W Continuous @40°C, 80 PLUS Certified,ATX12V v2.3 & EPS12V v2.91, SLI Ready,CrossFire Ready,Active PFC "Compatible with Core i7, i5" Power Supply - Power Supplies

Rosewill is a inhouse brand of Newegg afaik

Similar products do not cost less the 70-75 $ on New egg

Should I take a chance and get it as a friend is coming over next weekend ?

Views of Experienced members will be appreciated

Thanks

Psu are heavier than certain heatsinks and other stuff (well, not all of them). You might end up paying double the amount excluding shipment (you'll will end up getting through KMD since newegg don't send stuff to India) and you might have to ship it back to newegg if something happens.

Think about it, do you really think its feasible and practical? Why don't you just get something like gigabyte 460 or corsair vx450, assuming your system needs that much clean power and you can afford it?

Looks nice. :)

Not too sure about Rosewill though, but the price is great for a 530W. If you can negate the duty, why not...!

Dude just coz it's cheap and specs look good dont mean it's good. Besides I don't know whether your gonna overclock or not, sli etc. Though everyone would like to save money, don't bother just go for Corsair...no issues, no headaches + 5 year warranty + over the counter replacement...what more can one ask for...oh right lower cost! But for such a good product and service I think Corsair rules overall!!

BTW here is a post on Hard Forum, on PSU's to avoid...yes Rosewill is one of em

http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=974240 The poster says that you never know which company has made it till you open the box. Shitz that means Rosewill will always be a hit or miss PSU.

Here is a review by hardsecrets.com of the 650W PSU, I've listed the conclusion page for you. The conclusion says that the PSU is rated with peak wattage not the average. Corsair on the other hand rates it by the average wattage it can give (which is the correct/true way of rating) not peak wattage which doesnt really count. As Peak wattage a PSU can hit only for a few seconds max...correct me if I'm wrong.

My take...go for rosewill only for a simple rig, not something that is power hungry. But then again why would you need 530Watts :p Remember 530 watts Rosewill claims, I'm dead sure it can give around 100 watts lesser than that in actual performance. If something is too good to be true....IT DEFINITELY IS!

Hi

The link for the avoidable PSUs shows the page was created way back in 2005
A lot of time has passed any maybe the company has changed hands since then. Also a lot of new technologies have come and the list should not be read much into unless it is reposted with current data.
I have read somewhere that Rosewill is now under Newegg management.

I am sorry i did not clarify earlier, my friend from USA is coming over to Bangalore next week and he can bring it as his personal baggage so no question of any shipment charges or custom duty.My total landed cost is 40 USD for the same.

Other then some DOA, the reviews are quite good on Newegg.

Any further comments in view of my clarification?

Thanks

^^ As others said, a lot depends on the OEM of the particular unit you get. Its a lot like Zebronics in India. Every model can have a different OEM. occasionally one model is found to have good OEM, the rest are shit. Anyway its your call in the end. If you want to take your chances with $400+ worth of hardware with a shady unproved $40 PSU, be my guest.

As for newegg user reviews, I would not rely on them that much. Personally I did not find the newegg user reviews to be very reliable.
