Hello Folks,

Need to buy a Motherboard for a Ryzen 1600x processor which I will be using in a secondary rig. Motherboard should come with at least 4 SATA ports as I will be connecting 4-5HDDs to it. Also will be adding a PCI-e SATA expansion card.

I would like to keep it under 6k.

Options I have found are:

ASRock B450M-Hdv R4.0

ASUS Prime B450M-A II

Between the top two which will be better? I'm open to other brands too. Kindly recommend which I should go for.

Would advice against it as such cards are not recommended & in worst case scenario may lead to data corruption under heavy read write load on connected HDDs. Best option would be to just connect 1 HDD to it preferably a smaller size one having its important data backup up in another drive.

This is much better option but highly overpriced so if you can find someone coming from abroad bring one for you or can find a way to get it shipped here at less price then get this.

Have been using these cards since 2017 in my main NAS without running into any issues of data corruption:

IO Crest SY-PEX40039

2 ports might be passable, at least on major reddit tech subs such cards are not preferred with reports of data corruption but then the users there are also not your typical users. They mostly prefer HBA cards followed by these new m.2 sata expansion cards.
