Samsung has finished its efforts on Friday with news of the 2494HS, its newest desktop LCD. The display relies on an unusual 23.6-inch panel that runs a native 1920x1080 resolution suited to 1080p movies but also manages an exceptionally high 50000:1 dynamic contrast ratio comparable to TVs rather than computer displays. Accordingly, Samsung mounts in stereo speakers on the LCD's chin and gives it an HDMI input along with DVI and VGA.
The screen has a typical 5ms pixel response time and 300cd/m2 brightness and is deemed relatively eco-friendly with 48W power consumption when in use. Samsung is preparing to launch the display first in Japan and should release it there in mid-December for an estimated price equivalent to $ 420 Samsung regularly brings displays to the U.S. but has not yet indicated whether the 2494HS will be exported.

And thus begins the great pixel race.

Come on guys, till TN is there in its present avatar, we are not progressing. Poor viewing angles and poor picture quality.

First it was response time. But now that it is at 2ms (not much room left there), these monitor makers have turned their attention to Dynamic Contrast (utterly rubbish thing) and pixel count.
