Samsung's Android powered smart watch dubbed Galaxy Gear is expected be unveiled on 4th September along with the Galaxy Note III at the Mobile Unpacked event in Berlin.

The Galaxy Gear will run Android OS and will be able to make phone calls, do web surfing and handle e-mails and messages, reports Bloomberg.

Sammobile also heard the rumored specifications of the Galaxy Gear from some anonymous tipster which include -

CPU: Samsung Exynos 4212 dual core 1.5GHz
GPU: ARM Mali-400 MP4
RAM: 1GB
Display: 320×320 (3cm×3cm – 1.67-inches) AMOLED (not sure if it’s flexible)
Camera: 2 Megapixel
Connectivity: Bluetooth, NFC

The device is not confirmed to have a flexible display. It wont replace your smartphone but will only act as a companion with Bluetooth and NFC connectivity.

Sony has already launched its SmartWatch 2 and Apple is also working hard on its smartwatch, so the launch of Galaxy Gear is expected to heat up the smartwatch segment.
