Samsung has launched its 4K or Ultra High Definition ( UDH ) television 85S9 in India.

The Samsung UDH TV 85S9 is an 85 inch TV with 4K resolution (3840x2160 pixels), which is four times that of a regular 1080p TV. It comes with unique design and built in 120 watts speakers ( 20W x 2 / Woofer 20W x 2 / Center 40W ). It also supports 3D content with automatic conversion of 2D to 3D.

It includes all smart features, voice interaction, front camera and apps. It has quad-core processor and built in Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and USB connectivity. There are 4 HDMI ports, 3 USB 2.0 ports and Ethernet port along with other AV ports.

When it comes to price, the TV would cost you as much as an Audi or BMW, with a whopping Rs 27,00,000 price tag.

Well since manufactures haven't really figured how to explain for the exorbitant prices for an OLED or can't prove its self life, we have to stick with Ultra HD until then. But the price is just crazy. Isn't an Ultra hd the same thing as 4k in sony's terms? If thats true then why should Samsungs 85' cost 27 lakhs when sony's 65' is around 4?

If anyone wants to buy, wait for prices to stabilize. And remember that after 6 feet or so distance we probably cannot make out if the 40" TV is playing a 720p or a 1080p content.
Also no 4K content as of now. Wait for it to become mainstream.

4k is far away in my opinion.

Usually these formats are adopted when the porn industries take them up. When they do, others follow. I'm predicting another two years.

Yeah for anything to get mainstream you need content. If I'm not wrong we had HD tv's since the late nineties but only when we have mature content did it truly succeeded.

That's absolutely true.. But if we go over a certain size, say 50-55", then pixels are quite visible even in HD content unless you are sitting quite far. 4K will remove this limitation. Another reason why these TVs have been released in mammoth sizes.

But I agree that the price is ridiculous right now, as it is with any new technology. Also the fact that there is almost no content, makes this a waste of money.

Their tag line should be this - " Purchase one and get 10 Income Tax officers free", because such an exorbitant purchase is sure to raise some eyebrows with the wrong people.

How much inches ?

84" - http://www.lg.com/in/84-Ultra-HD-TV

I saw it in E-Zone or Reliance - can't remember which. Massive monster!

Price has dropped a bit it seems - http://www.reliancedigital.in/lg-84lm9600-3d-ultra-hd-led-tv-84-inch-213-36-cm.html

IMO, these are meant to be replacements for projectors rather than watching daily soaps at SD quality. I believe sports and educational channels like National Geo will launch with 4K options before other channels, like they did for HD. Both would look sweet at 4K quality.
