Samsung Wave II vs Motorola Defy, what's your choice?

I'm thinking about getting a new phone and narrowed the choice to Wave 2 and Defy. Mainly need a big display and the OS in not an issue.
Both phones are almost 18k and specs are very close.
Or are there any other 3.7 inch displays worth considering?

The Defy's got a small dev community who've already ported Froyo, and its actually blazing fast. I'd suggest the Defy over Bada since there really hasn't been much news even after the release of the first Wave.

h/w wise wave 2... it will get bada 2.0 for sure... but i thnk u no about how lousy samsung is regding f/w upgradation

s/w wise defy.. btw defy will not get gingrbread offcialy... evn no one can cnfrn about official froyo either.. for s/w upgrade u will need to rely on devcomms...

If you are ok with Bada OS, you can very well go with Wave II. It has got some great features which Defy doesn't have such as super clear LCD, 720p recording, secondary camera, 1GHz processor, TV-out etc etc. Its an ultimate phone at that price.

Dude, dont even think of comparing Android and Bada OS. See which OS you want to go with, and Android is the best preferred nowadays.

I would stick with Android if i were you.

Currently i am using a Symbian phone, and i am longing to go for the Android. Just saving up to go for the big purchase :)

Super LCD is just something that Samsung came up with to hide the shortage of AMOLED screens... Wave II has better h/w specs agreed but usability and feature set wise, Wave II doesn't even come close to the Defy... If 720p recording & TV out is something you can't live with, go with Wave II else go for the Defy...

ps. There is also a Nokia C7 in the price bracket...!

If video playback is the major criteria, you can safely buy wave 2.It supports almost all common video formats OOTB.For defy you have rockplayer,qq player etc.but they may not be able to handle everything you throw at them.

BUT a major concern with wave 2 is the "camera failed"thing,I have seen 3 cases already.Google it,if you do not know already. The fix is not that difficult, but it is not 100% guaranteed.

hey was that answer for me
if yes then i asked that to know how powerful the battery backup for defy is as i was confused between Defy and Desire HD
but i was turned off by the DHD's weak battery
i want to buy defy but i want to be sure about its battery life before putting the money down

Yes,I was trying to answer you.I have not even seen desire hd,but used both wave 2 ,desire and hd2.Last year I was looking for a phone with a big screen for watching movies and hd2 was the biggest one available at that time.Bought it without thinking about battery and started regretting just after 6 months. Now it runs froyo seamlessly, but the battery has gone worse, bought desire(as it was available locally for 23.5k)sold it in 2 weeks(barely lasted a 2hr movie with rockplayer).

Now a friend of mine with similar requirement bought a wave2 and it plays all formats out of the box smoothly and it easily lasts a 2hr movie with >50%battery remaining.

I have no idea about defy, but it`s audio quality will be better than HTC.All htc phone I have seen or used(hero,N1,HD2,desire)have pathetic audio quality.Even my el cheapo E5 sounds better than HD2.

Apologies,if my previous post confused you.
