90 degree viewing angles for small TFTs
Sanyo Epson Imaging Devices Corporation just announced a new LCD technology that allows for full 90 degree viewing at any angle. The technology, called Vistarich, is relatively light on details at this point, but the company did release some key features instead.
For example, Vistarich displays with 1000:1 contrast ratios will still suffer a hit in contrast when viewed from extreme angles, but the company claims 100:1 ratios are still visible at 80 degrees. More importantly, Sanyo Epson claims there is almost no color reversal even at these extreme angles.
Sanyo Epson claims the displays will become commercially available this fall in display sizes fewer than 10 inches diagonally. Both AS TFT and LTPS TFT panels can use the new technology.
