it is better in power consumption, however not much better in performance, 1 can only see 20% performance gain over upgradation, but again, its insane @ price of 7.2k :), too low temps, imba low noise :D
 
a 6990 accounts for 1% of sales,maybe less...this range is where wars are fought...and won or lost

the 6850 is the technical successor of the 5770...they screwed the naming or the 6 series
 
already have gtx460, dont wanna spend above 7k so bought this, and i previously used 5770 too hence can feel the performance diff, not much but have some. 6790 is for 8.9k which is a bit above the budget and not suitable for my needs (need this gpu for cafe).
